This scholarship is dedicated to the first-year women of Tougaloo College, helping to defray the cost of textbooks and other essential academic materials. It honors the enduring guidance and mentorship of Mrs. Alfredlene Armstrong, our first advisor, whose pivotal role in establishing Womanhood set a lasting standard of leadership, mentorship, and guidance for our founders.

This scholarship supports women majoring in Mass Communications at Tougaloo College by providing funding for cameras, lighting, tripods, microphones, and other essential educational tools and resources. By helping ensure students have access to the equipment they need, the scholarship supports their academic success and prepares them for future opportunities in the field of Mass Communications. Womanhood honors the life, legacy, and memory of Melanie S. Dotson.
